Losing expertise and key managers on a project can have a devastating effect, especially European funded projects where there are usually high technical and compliance requirements.
The Interim / Crisis Management service, provides you with an experienced project manager who can ‘hit the ground running’ and integrate with your team acting as a ‘bridge’ until alternative management arrangements can be made.
We particularly specialise in providing assistance during the latter stages of a project, helping organisations bring their projects to a successful conclusion.
WHY WILL THIS BENEFIT YOU?
- Often for European funded projects, project managers are appointed on fixed term contracts directly related to the length of the project. In many cases contracts are not extended so project managers look for alternative employment 5-6 months before the end of the project.
- As a result when projects are approaching their most critical stage (project closure) they are often left without the knowledge and expertise of their project manager.
- The same can happen at other times within the project life cycle for different reasons, i.e. sickness, poor performance.
- Being able to appoint an interim manager with the appropriate experience and expertise can overcome this issue, enabling the project to progress and successfully deliver its primary outcome.
WHAT WILL THE APPOINTMENT OF AN INTERIM MANAGER INVOLVE?
- The process and scope associate with appointing an Interim Manager will depend on the existing management structure of the project and the position the project is in.
- The method of appointment will also depend on whether you wish to charge the costs of an interim manager to the project or not. See Cost & procurement section.
- Our approach is flexible. We can simply ‘fill the gaps’ you have or provide the entire management function to achieve the deliverables set out for your project.
- You will just need to be open and transparent with all project documentation and communication as if the project manager was directly employed by you.
- All of your project documentation & communication will be kept strictly confidential.
COST & PROCUREMENT
- The cost of an interim manager will start around £450-£500 + VAT per day. The exact cost will depend on the requirements and scope of the management task.
- The cost of procuring and appointing an interim manager is an eligible project cost and therefore can be claimed and charged project’s budget. However due to the level of cost involved you will have to go through an appropriate procurement process to be able to claim the costs.
TIMESCALES
- Timescales of appointing an interim manager will depend on the procurement method undertaken. However an interim manager can be available to help with a few days of completing the procurement process.
